3-Year LLB (after graduation)

  • • Bachelor's degree in any stream from a UGC-recognised university.
  • • Minimum aggregate: 50% (Gen / EWS / NRI), 47.5% OBC-NCL, 45% SC / ST / PwD.
  • • Final-year graduates may apply provisionally.
  • • No upper age limit; no minimum age.

5-Year BA LLB (after 12th)

  • • 10+2 from a recognised board, any stream (Science / Commerce / Humanities).
  • • Minimum aggregate: 50% (Gen / EWS / NRI), 45% SC / ST / PwD.
  • • Class 12 appearing candidates are eligible (provisional admission).
  • • Minimum age: 17 years on 1 July 2026.

Eligibility — FAQs

Who is eligible for PU 3-Year LLB 2026?
Any graduate (BA, BCom, BSc, BTech, BBA etc.) from a UGC-recognised university with ≥50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD, 47.5% for OBC). Final-year graduates can apply provisionally and must submit their degree before admission.
Who is eligible for PU 5-Year BA LLB 2026?
Candidates who have passed (or appearing in) 10+2 from a recognised board with ≥50% aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PwD). No subject restriction — students from Science, Commerce or Humanities streams can all apply.
Is there an age limit for PU LLB?
No upper age limit, in line with the Bar Council of India rule (2017 BCI amendment). Minimum age: 17 years on 1 July 2026 for the 5-Year BA LLB; no minimum for the 3-Year LLB.
What is the reservation policy?
PU follows the standard Indian framework: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC (non-creamy layer) 27%, EWS 10%, PwD 5% (horizontal). Plus PU-specific quotas: Sports, Defence wards, NRI/Foreign, and a 2% Single-Girl-Child quota.
Is domicile required?
No. PU LLB is open to candidates from any state in India. However, a small number of seats are reserved for Chandigarh-domicile and PU-graduate categories — check the official prospectus for the exact split.
Can I apply if I have a backlog?
Yes, if your degree-awarding university permits provisional admission. You must clear all backlogs and submit the final mark sheet before the cut-off date specified in the PU admission notice (usually mid-September 2026).
Which documents are required at the time of application?
Class 10 & 12 mark sheets, graduation transcript / latest semester result, category certificate (if applicable), EWS / income certificate, domicile (if claiming state quota), passport-size photo, signature and a valid photo ID (Aadhaar / PAN / Passport).
Are foreign nationals or NRIs eligible?
Yes — PU has a separate NRI / Foreign National quota with a slightly different fee structure. Eligibility mirrors the general criteria; the application is processed via the PU International Students Office.
