PU LLB syllabus breakdown — section by section
A section-by-section breakdown of the PU LLB entrance syllabus: GK and current affairs, legal aptitude, reasoning and English, with what to study first.
How the syllabus is organised
The PU LLB entrance tests four areas: General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, and English. Always confirm the latest section weightage in the official Panjab University prospectus. The full topic list is on our PU LLB syllabus page.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs
Cover static GK (Indian polity, history, geography, economy) and the last 12 months of national and international news. Legal current affairs — new laws, landmark judgments and constitutional amendments — deserve special attention.
Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning
Focus on principle-and-fact questions from torts, contracts, criminal law and the Constitution. You do not need to memorise sections; you need to apply a given principle to a given fact correctly.
Logical Reasoning and English
Reasoning covers syllogisms, assumptions, arguments, series and puzzles. English covers grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Daily editorial reading builds both speed and accuracy.
